Irish tinker, Gypsy vanner, Gypsy horse, which ever name they are knwn by, they are a magnificent breed! They are one of my favorites in the world of horses, and also the horse with which I look for inspiration for my Unicorns.
The Gypsy Vanner is a WONDERFUL breed. They were bred by the gypsy people of the british isles after world war one. The are thought to be the decedents of Friesian horses, Shire horses, and Dale ponies. They were bred to be family horses, if one was not good around other horses, children, and the other family pets, they were not bred. The result today is a smaller, family oriented horse with bright beautiful colors and short backs, strong legs (to pull the family caravan all day), rainbow necks, and pin pot heads with delicate ears. They really are a joy to work with!! The canter is extremely powerful and they are sooooo sweet and they try to please you!! I love them!!
